During a trip to Hong Kong, I was walking along Nathan Street surrounded by huge crowds, congested traffic, and shops as far as the eye could see containing all manner of goods and wealth. There amongst the onslaught to the senses was this ancient lady sitting on the sidewalk amongst filth. The impact of her image stayed with me to be brought to life in this painting. Private Collection
